The SWFL Umpires Association have tonight announced the Umpires for Sunday’s Grand Finals at Hands Memorial Oval, going with an experienced team, with only one debutant in the League Grand Final.
Field Umpire of the Year, Greg Rolfe will be joined by Damien O’Donoghue, both of whom will officiate in their third League Grand Final with the duo joined by Matt Carpenter who will do his second League decider. It will also be O’Donoghues 100th League Game in the Grand Final. The emergency umpire will be Kevin Hutchins.
Boundary Umpire of the Year, Jarrad Andrews will umpire a record ninth consecutive Grand Final on the Boundary, joined by Zac Peachey (third), Ben Cole (second), while Riley Hearne will officiate in his first League Grand Final. Cole will also umpire his 50th League Game in the Grand Final.
The Goal Umpire of the Year, Matt Devenish will officiate in his second decider, and will be joined by Jason Crowe, who will officiate in his 17th Grand Final, a SWFL Record. Crowe will also notch up his 400th League Game on Sunday in the Grand Final, just the second umpire to do so, the other being Field Umpire Kevin Nettleton.
The Reserve Match will see Michael Hearne, Vance Burton and Matthew Stewart as the three field umpires. The Boundary Umpires will be Rory Devaney, Josh Emmott and Liam Belfield, while Josh Daniels and Jason Morrow will wave the flags, with Ben Whitehill listed as the emergency.
The Colts Umpires consist of Scott Jones, Scott Buchanan and Darren Browne as the Field Umpries, Harry Gaulter, Ned Gaulter and Cooper Anderton will do their first Grand Final as the Boundary Umpires, while Robbie Fay and Damien Cifelli will be the Goal Umpires, with Cameron Edmonds the emergency umpire.
The SWFLUA also bestowed Life Membership on Damien Cifelli, Cameron Edmonds and Des Horner, while Peter Franklin, Laurie Sutherland and Harold Membrey were all elevated to the Hall of Fame.
