SWFL Season 2020 Update
Last night the SWFL held the May Council meeting, this was the first opportunity to have all the Club Delegates and Presidents together since the limitation on group numbers.
The Club Presidents, Delegates and SWFL Executive understand that everybody is waiting for confirmation on the 2020 SWFL season.
The SWFL would like to advise that if the State Government allow minimum crowd numbers of 500 and grant permission for Clubs to have a sufficient number of patrons in their club rooms, then we will hold a 2020 season. Whilst there is still a number of details to work through, we envisage a 9 round home and away season with 4 weeks of finals. A possible start date for the season would be mid-July with the grand finals mid to late October, 2020. Please remember this could be subject to change and is only a guide at this point in time.
We will patiently wait for further updates from the State Government and the WA Football Commission regarding Community Football.
The SWFL and the Clubs are committed to holding a season, however we do require crowds and as mentioned, this will be determined over the next 6 weeks with updates from the State Government.
Stay safe everyone and we hope to see you playing, watching and enjoying football again as soon as possible.
