Lions Storm Into Colts Grand Final

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault have moved into SWFL Colts Grand Final with a barnstorming finish to the Preliminary Final, which saw them defeat South Bunbury by 30 points.

At the ten minute mark of the final quarter there was only two points the difference, before the Lions kicked a spate of late goals to book a rematch with Bunbury in Sunday’s Grand Final.

The match started with an even first quarter with both teams kicking two goals each, before HBL kicked away in the second quarter, led by Taine Williams who kicked three goals for the match.

The Tigers fought back in the third quarter, keeping the Lions scoreless, but South Bunbury’s inaccuracy saw HBL still lead at the final break.

After a tight first ten minutes, the Lions broke the match open to over power the young Tigers team, to set up the second-semi final rematch.

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will be searching for their third successive Colts Grand Final, having defeated Augusta Margaret River in 2015 by 52 points, and last year by downing Bunbury by 54 points.  The match is scheduled to start on Sunday at 9.15am.
