Busselton have set a Grand Final date with Southern neighbours, Augusta Margaret River, after defeating Bunbury today in the SWFL League Preliminary Final by 41 points.
Last years Grand Final rematch saw the Magpies burst out of the blocks, kicking six goals to two in the opening quarter, with Mitch Howlett and Aidan Fraser causing havoc in the forward line.
Busselton continued to dominate in the second term, kicking the first goal of the second quarter before Bunbury commenced a fight back which saw them trail by 22 points at the half time break.
Bunbury’s accurate kicking would keep them in touch with the Magpies, with the Bulldogs kicking nine straight goals before kicking a behind, getting within 13 points of the black and whites, and seemingly having the momentum.
The three quarter time siren snuffed out that momentum, as Busselton kicked four goals in the final term, keeping the Bulldogs scoreless, to advance to a historic Grand Final against Augusta Margaret River next Sunday at 2.30pm.
Mitch Howlett and Aidan Fraser kicked five goals each, with Liam Creighton marking everything in the forward, with Jaxon East playing another good game. James Hawksley was the only multiple goal kicker for Bunbury kicking three goals.
