Big Match To Play Out At Payne Park

On what is being dubbed Super Sunday, two big matches will be played in Bunbury just 3km apart, with one being Bunbury hosting the high flying top of the ladder Busselton Magpies, at PC Payne Park.

Busselton are undefeated after a strong win over Donnybrook in round four by 39 points, along with earlier victories against Dunsborough, Eaton and Augusta Margaret River.  Bunbury after losing to Carey Park in the opening round have had victories against Harvey Brunswick Lescheanult and Collie leading into this big match.

One exciting component of the match will be the forward lines of both teams, which both boast significant fire power.    Matt Martin has kicked 14 goals in three games, including eleven his last two outings, with the SWFL’s leading goal kicker of all time, ably assisted by Joel Houghton who has kicked seven.

At the opposite end, Busselton also have a two pronged attack with Liam Creighton having kicked 16 goals from four games, to be third on the goal kicking tally, while Beau Chinnery has eleven goals so far this season.  Creighton’s athletic ability not only in the forward line but all over the ground will certainly keep the Bunbury back half busy.

Both teams have match winners on every line, making Sunday’s match one not to miss.  A win to the visitors will keep them on top of the ladder, leaving Bunbury in the bottom half, while a Bunbury victory will put Bunbury into the top five on what will then be a very congested ladder.
