Blockbuster At VC Mitchell Park Saturday

Donnybrook and Busselton, two undefeated teams will play a genuine blockbuster on Saturday afternoon, as the opening game in round four of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership season, at VC Mitchell Park.

Donnybrook will be fresh from the Easter Bye and Club Bye, while Busselton are coming off a great hit out against Dunsborough who took it right up to the Magpies.

The Dons played at home in round one, downing Eaton by 81 points before defeating Dunsborough by 100 points, while Busselton have had three games to start the season, accounting for Augusta Margaret River by 13 points, Eaton by 145 points and Dunsborough by 27 points.

Both line-ups have players in great form with Jeff Smith kicking a career best ten goals against the Sharks on Sunday, 2 April 2023, while Zac Trigwell has kicked seven goals from two games and also put in another contender for mark of the year.

At the opposite end, Busselton have Liam Creighton who has already amassed 11 goals in three games, including seven against Eaton, and three last week against Dunsborough, while Beau Chinnery has kicked four goals in his last two games for the Magpies to sit fifth on the goal kicking tally.

Busselton also have Jackson Arbon, Mitch Fraser, Damian Lee and Mitch Tenardi all playing great football, which the Dons will be aware of and will need to nullify to take victory on Saturday.  Conversely, Luke Dale, Todd Gregory, Ben Howlett and Kai Luzi have all been playing well for the Dons, in what promises to be a great contest.

The Don’s currently have the best percentage in the League competition and a win will solidify their position either on top of the ladder or second at the very least.  A loss could see the Dons drop as far sixth on the ladder, highlighting the enormity of the match, even this early in the season.   For Busselton, a win will keep them on top of the ladder, a loss could see them as one of six teams on three wins at the end of the round, subject to the Carey Park v Augusta Margaret River result.
