Boomers By Four!

The weather was bleak on Sunday afternoon at VC Mitchell Park, with heavy rain falling from start to finish in what was a must win match for both teams.

In horrendous conditions, Donnybrook kicked the only goal of the first term to lead by five points.  In the second quarter, both teams managed two goals a piece, as the visibility started to become difficult.   The Boomers held the ball in their forward line for a long period of the quarter, managing a further two goals, to take a two point margin into the final quarter.

Donnybrook were able to kick the opening goal of the final term to take the lead back, before the Boomers kept the ball deep in their forward line for a long period of the final quarter which ultimately resulted in Jakeob Phillips marking a set shot at goal on the behind line.  He snapped truly putting the Boomers back in front.  In the dying stages both teams had a final chance to score, but were unable to, with the Boomers hanging on to win their second game of the season by four points.
