Boomers Escape With The Four Points

Eaton Boomers got a very big scare in defeating Collie Eagles on Sunday at the Collie Recreation Ground by fourteen points, eventually getting over the top of a highly depleted Eagles outfit.

The Collie Eagles Football Club have been ravaged by Covid-19, with the majority of the cases in the League team.  None the less, the Eagles led not only at quarter time, and at half time, with only a seven goal third quarter getting the Boomers over the line.  In the end, the Eagles won three of the four quarters, yet lost the match by fourteen points, in one of the most tenacious displays under adversity in many years.

The Boomers desperately needed the win to stay in touch with the top five, and eventually were able to get the desired result, but Collie pushed them all the way, with only the third quarter saving the visitors from an unlikely defeat.

Sam Russell and Cameron Davidson along with Reece Kelly played great games for the home team, but Tom Shanahan again played a strong game for Eaton, along with Jordan Falco to get the Boomers home.

Eaton will now face Carey Park on Sunday in another must win match at Kelly Park, while Collie will welcome back 23 players this week when they take on Busselton at the Collie Recreation Ground, also on Sunday.
