Boomers Overcome Slow Start

Eaton Boomers have over-come a slow start to record a 31 point win over Augusta Margaret River on Sunday afternoon, at the Glen Huon Reserve, in round six of the South West Football League.

The Hawks kicked the only three goals of the first quarter to lead by twenty two points at the first change, but failing to score in the second quarter, with Eaton kicking four, enabled the home team to lead by five points at half time.

In an entertaining third quarter, the Boomers kicked four goals, while the Hawks kicked five, which would see the visitors lead by two points at the final change.  The Boomers kicked on in the final term with Brandon Jetta a focal point up forward (finishing with four goals), as the home team kicked six goals to one to record a comfortable victory.

Heath Ryden and Josh Branchi were instrumental in the forward thrusts for the Boomers, while Matt Jukes kicked three goals for the visitors after kicking four the week before, with Mitch Lynn again one of the best for the Hawks.

Augusta Margaret River return to Gloucester Park this Saturday night to take on arch rivals Busselton in the Busselton Toyota Cup, with both teams on three wins for the season, in a highly crucial clash.   Eaton meanwhile will travel to Donnybrook in the game of the round on Sunday, with both teams having a four two record, with the Dons riding high after their win over Bunbury.
