Eaton return to Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday to take on Bunbury in the round seven clash of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season, with the Boomers fresh off their maiden win of the season last week.
The Boomers won a thriller against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault by two points to notch up their first win of the season, while Bunbury are coming off a thrilling draw against Dunsborough.
It is fair to say the Bulldogs have had the wood over the Boomers in recent years, with Bunbury having won the last six contests by 37 points and 47 points in 2022, 44 points and 12 points in 2021, by 60 points in 2020 and by 3 points in round 13, 2019. The last Boomers victory was in round four, 2019, when they defeated Bunbury by 19 points, coming from behind in the last quarter to win. Jarrod Humphries and Brett Peake both kicked five goals for their respective teams on the day.
The Boomers win last week was off the back of a brilliant third term, where they clawed their way back into the contest after having been outplayed in the first half by the Lions. Meanwhile, Bunbury also came from behind last week, having a seven point lead with five minutes remaining, only for Dunsborough to snatch a draw.
Greg Humphries has been a stand-out for the Boomers this season, and Paul Rinder is now playing excellent football in the ruck, two players Bunbury will certainly need to keep an eye on. Jethro Barraclough has been one of Bunbury’s best in recent weeks, and provides Bunbury with plenty of run and carry, while Jesse Gribble and Dylan Heasman always get plenty of ball, providing plenty of forward opportunities for Joel Houghton and Matt Martin.
