Eaton won the opening Tronox Women’s clash of the season, dashing the hopes of Augusta Margaret River, who played their first ever match in the Women’s competition, with the Boomers winning by seven points.
The Hawks were definitely up for the challenge, with Tanisha Anderson being the player who would get in their way of victory, kicking the opening goal and the winning goal for Eaton.
After Anderson’s initial goal, the Hawks replied almost immediately with Bonnie Hastings kicking the teams first ever goal, leveling the scores.
Anderson kicked a late goal to give the Boomers a six point lead at quarter time, with scoring drying up in the second quarter, played in very warm conditions.
Annabelle Jones kicked a good goal in the third term to narrow the margin to a point, but Anderson would kick her third for the match midway through the final term to give the Eaton side their first win of the season.
Experienced duo, Shelby Humphries and Chloe Seaman played well for the Boomers, while Tahli Wilkins and Isla Drake-Brockman were amongst the best for the Hawks.
