Round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership season has thrown up so great matches, but it is rare that after eight rounds a top of the table clash comes along, with Harvey Brunswick Leschenault to host South Bunbury at Brunswick Oval on Sunday.
The Tigers are undefeated after eight rounds, with a perfect record of eight wins from eight matches, while second placed Harvey Brunswick Leschenault have lost just one of their seven matches, that being to Carey Park in round six to the tune of 23 points.
South Bunbury have won the last four contests between the two sides, the last by 63 points, but a lot has changed since that 2 September 2023 clash.
Against sides within the top five, South Bunbury have defeated Bunbury by four points, with effectively the last kick of the day, Donnybrook by 44 points at Boyanup Oval in round four, and Augusta Margaret River by 65 points. Harvey Brunswick Leschenault defeated Bunbury by 10 points at Brunswick Oval in round five, but are yet to play any other top five side this season, with Donnybrook and AMR still to come in the next two weeks.
Both teams have strong midfields, sound defence and potent forward lines, making this a match not to miss.
Regardless of the result, South Bunbury will still be on top of the ladder at the end of the round, though for the Lions, a loss could see them drop to third, should Bunbury defeat Augusta Margaret River.
