The round nine clash between Bunbury and Augusta Margaret River will be a crucial clash at PC Payne Park on Sunday, with the loser set to start losing touch with the top five as the season nears the half way mark.
Bunbury are coming off a tough, physical contest against Donnybrook, where the Bulldogs lost by 38 points, while Augusta Margaret River are coming off the bye, having lost their round seven clash against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault.
The Hawks, the two time and defending premiers, find themselves in fifth place with four wins and three losses from seven games, while Bunbury are sixth on the ladder, three wins, three losses and a draw. The Bulldogs weren’t able to get the win for Jesse Gribble (250th game) last week but will try again this week for Brad Blake (200th game) and Matt Partridge (150th – pictured).
Augusta Margaret Rivers shock loss to the Lions two weeks ago will be something the Hawks will be looking to put behind them, with the team having a plethora of injuries leading into the bye.
Bunbury were blown away in the second quarter of their match with Donnybrook last Sunday, but apart from that matched it with the Dons, with youngster Trae Field playing a good game along with Jesse Gribble, Denholm King and Jacob Wintle.
With both teams figuring in the middle of the table nearing the half way mark of the season, the two proud clubs will be desperate for the four points and with fine weather expected, a highly skillful match should result.
