Bulldogs Maul Boomers In Massive Defeat

It was a dark day at Glen Huon Reserve for Eaton when they were thrashed by a ruthless Bunbury outfit, in round six of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL season.

Bunbury’s winning margin of 159 points highlighted the lopsided nature of the match on Sunday afternoon, which would see Joel Houghton kick ten goals for the second time this season.

The Bulldogs kicked eight unanswered goals in the opening term, with Houghton kicking three goals for the quarter.  The Bulldogs had five of those eight goals on the board before Eaton had the ball go inside 50m.

There was no let up in the second quarter, with the Bulldogs kicking their ninth goal inside the opening minute, and soon after their tenth, before Greg Humphries gave the Eaton fans something to cheer about momentarily when he slotted the teams first goal at the ten minute mark of the second quarter.  Jack Saunders then kicked Eaton’s second goal a minute later, but alas for the Boomers, that would be their last.

Bunbury would kick the next seventeen goals of the match, with Houghton kicking three goals in the third term and three in the last in a brilliant forward display, while Fraser Gilchrist kicked five goals in just his second league match.  Outside of Houghton and Gilchrist, Jesse Gribble and Jaymin King played great games.

Bunbury will now take plenty of confidence into next Sunday’s marquee match, when they host South Bunbury.   Eaton will head to Kelly Park for a Saturday afternoon match against Carey Park.
