Bulls Consolidate Fourth Place

South Bunbury’s Premiership defence is teetering on the brink of disaster, after another loss at home on Sunday at the Hands of Harvey Bulls in round fourteen of the SWFL.

The premiers have won just one of their last seven matches, with the spectacular fall from grace seeing the Tigers go from being fifth a fortnight ago, to eighth at the end of round fourteen.

The Bulls were dominant from start to finish, with Josh Krispyn, Jacob Pickett and Brett Lofthouse focal points up forward, kicking three goals each.

The margin extended at every break, from 24 points to 28 points, with the three quarter time margin being 50 points.  South Bunbury were kept scoreless in the third term, as the Bulls surged home kicking five goals to two in the final quarter, setting up a 68 point victory.

It was the Harvey Bulls biggest every victory against South Bunbury since joining the SWFL.

This Sunday, the Bulls will face Bunbury in the match of the round.  The match is crucial for both clubs, with Bunbury needing to win to stay in touch with Collie Eagles and a chance to host a qualifying final, while for the Bulls, a win will keep them clear of the chasing pack.  A loss will potentially have the Harvey team just two points clear of the fifth placed team at the end of the round, such is the nature of the competition.

For South Bunbury, any hope of make the finals will start with them defeating Busselton on Saturday, which won’t be easy after Busselton just fell short in a thriller against fellow finals contender, Donnybrook.  That match will be played at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.
