Bulls Do It Again

For the third year in a row, Harvey Bulls have won the First Semi Final in the SWFL and for the second year in a row, in a definite upset.

Last season, in a historic night final, Harvey Bulls ousted Harvey Brunswick Leschenault after the siren, while this season they disposed of the Collie Eagles at the Collie Recreation Ground.  The Eagles have gone out in “straight sets”, losing both of their finals at home.

After starting well against the breeze, the Eagles led by five points, while the home team seamingly had the game under control at half time leading by 25 points.

After the main break the Bulls kicked their way back into the match, kicking five unanswered goals in the third quarter to lead by four points at the final change.

The final quarter was close and tight before the Bulls kicked clear by sixteen points, with a late Collie goal reducing the margin to ten points.  For the home crowd, there would be no fairy-tale finish, with the Bulls 10 point win coming on the back of their 11 point win in the Elimination Final.  Collie Eagles managed just two goal after half time.

It is the third season in a row that a team that has made a Qualifying Final, and lost both finals. (Collie, Harvey Brunswick Leschenault, Eaton Boomers).

Harvey Bulls will now play Bunbury in the Preliminary Final.  It will be their third successive Preliminary Final, where they scored 3.13.31 in 2015, and last season they kicked just 3.7.25.
