Bulls Do What They Needed To Do

Harvey Bulls have defeated Eaton on Saturday afternoon at Harvey Oval, taking the crucial four points to keep them in the hunt for finals in the round fifteen match of the SWFL Season.

Eaton started the match well with Josh Bowe and Karl Collard getting plenty of possessions, while Paul Rinder was dominating the ruck play, but for all the Boomers early dominance they managed just two points.

Tyson Powell kicked two goals including this shot from well outside the boundary.

The opening goal took eleven minutes with Jacob Pickett finding himself in the right place at the right time, marking after a hacked kick out of a pack.  Karl Collard kicked a long range goal soon after to put the Boomers back in front, before Evan Hill kicked a brilliant dribble goal from deep in the pocket to put the Bulls back in front.

The Bulls dominated the second quarter, but they squandered five relatively easy shots at goal before Brandon Hill found the major opening, as the margin became 16 points.  Kyle Humphries and Brad Holmes added further goals as the margin moved to 28 points before the Boomers through determination and persistence kicked their second.  Brad Holmes was rewarded for a strong tackle, kicking his second just before half time with the Bulls holding sway by 28 points at the main break.

The third quarter started well for the Bulls with Brendan Page kicking a goal in the opening minute, but that would be the only joy for the Bulls faithful, as the Bulls went on to kick eight of the next nine goals, either side of three quarter time.

Christian Tirli capped of a good match with a good running goal off the back of a chain of handballs, as an exclamation mark on the match.  The Boomers didn’t stop trying and kicked the final two goals of the match with the final margin 58 points.

Lloyd Beever and Sam Lewis played good games for the Bulls, while Paul Rinder was superb all day in the ruck along with Josh Bowe and Tom Harris.

The Bulls remain in sixth on the ladder and have the bye in round sixteen, while Eaton will host Augusta Margaret River.
