Bulls Move Into The Top Five

Harvey Bulls ensured the fight for fifth place will now rage on until the end of the season, after they disposed of Donnybrook on Sunday afternoon at VC Mitchell Park by 40 points.

The Dons started brilliantly kicking two goals in the opening two minutes before the Bulls really had a possession.  The match then settled into an arm wrestle with Brad Holmes eventually kicking a goal for the Bulls at the 18 minute mark.  Jack Wheeler kicked a great goal on the run from fifty metres to extend the margin, before Michael Bennell kicked his first goal to reduce the margin to a point at the first change.

Cooper Clarke-Dehring opened the scoring in the second quarter, roving the ball off the pack to give the Dons a seven point advantage.  The Bulls then went on a scoring spree kicking the next five goals, with Brad Holmes kicking two goals in two minutes putting the Bulls in front.  Michael Bennell received a free kick and duly converted to extend the margin and when Callan Eddy goaled at the 10 minute mark the margin was 17 points.  Tyson Powell kicked a goal off the ground to extend the margin further before the Dons kicked two late goals to have the margin at 13 points at half time.

After seven minutes of defensive efforts from both teams, Jackson Capurso snapped a goal which led to a further goal to Holmes which made the margin 26 points, and the home team were in trouble.   Sean Lynch and Jack Wheeler renewed the fight for the Dons with quick goals to set the margin at 21 points at three quarter time.

The final term would see the Bulls kick four goals to one, to run away with the win, moving into fifth place at the expense of Donnybrook.

Harley Bennell had a mountain of possessions, while Brad Holmes, Michael Bennell and Tyson Powell kicked ten goals between them, while Jy Bolton, Jeff Smith and Ben Howlett again played well for the home team.

The Bulls will now host the Lions next Saturday, while Donnybrook will host Busselton as the race for the five continues.
