Bunbury Advance To Women’s Grand Final

Bunbury have advanced to their fourth Womens Grand Final after defeating South Bunbury at Payne Park on Sunday afternoon.

The combined score was the highest ever in a Second Semi Final, and Bunbury became the first team to kick five goals in a Second Semi Final.

South Bunbury started well and led by a point at quarter time, however Bunbury kicked three goals in the second quarter to lead by 16 points at half time.  Not to be out done, the Tigers came back keeping Bunbury scoreless, while kicking two goals themselves, setting up a great last quarter.  Both teams kicked a goal in the final quarter, and both teams had a chance to win, but Bunbury were able to bottle the ball up in their forward line in the final minutes.

Claudia Elward kicked two goals for the victors, while Kloe Bassett and Milly Burns were amongst the best for Bunbury.  Charli Wicksteed as she has several times, was amongst the best for the Tigers.

South Bunbury will now play Busselton next Sunday at Brunswick Oval in the Preliminary Final for the opportunity to play the Bulldogs in the Grand Final.
