Bunbury Move To The Top Of The Ladder

Bunbury Bulldogs did what was expected on Sunday afternoon, when they accounted for the Collie Eagles at PC Payne Park, in the final game of round five of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season.

With the healthy victory and the shock loss by South Bunbury, Bunbury, with a game in hand on second placed Augusta Margaret River, now sit on top of the ladder, also with a very healthy percentage.

The Bulldogs started quickly, opening up a four goal lead at quarter time, and effectively by half time had put the match out of the Eagles reach, leading by 51 points.

To the Eagles credit they did keep on trying, and put together three goals in quick succession to narrow the margin to 32 points mid way through the third term, but a seven goal final quarter by the home team secured an 82 point win.

Dylan Heasman was again the best player on the ground, while Fraser Gilchrist and Jacob Wintle all playing well, with the trio kicking ten goals between them.  Shaquille McKenzie was again amongst the best for Collie, along with Adam Bignell.

Bunbury will play host to Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Sunday, while Collie Eagles task won’t get any easier when they take on Augusta Margaret River at Gloucester Park on Saturday.  Both fixtures are day games.
