Busselton, Bunbury Showdown Sunday

Fourth placed Busselton will host third placed Bunbury in a big match for both teams, this Sunday at Sir Stewart Bovell Park in round fourteen of the SWFL.

Busselton need to win or face the possibility of losing fourth place to Donnybrook, while a victory would see the Magpies on equal points with the Bulldogs, with the opportunity as the season unwinds to fight for third place and a double chance come finals.  For the Bulldogs who are coming off the bye, a win keeps them in touch with the Hawks and South Bunbury, while a loss will see them remain third, but lose touch with the top two teams.

The bye has been good to most teams this season, which isn’t good news for the Magpies who are coming off a heavy loss to South Bunbury, yet the week before, the Black and Whites were way too good for Augusta Margaret River at Bovell Park, so Bunbury would be well aware of that.  The Bulldogs themselves are coming off a loss at home to Carey Park two weeks ago, so both teams will be looking to win, to get back on track after next weekends general bye.

Bunbury won the last contest by 23 points courtesy of a dominant second quarter, with Dylan Heasman and Patrick Farrant getting plenty of possessions.  Busselton have plenty of run through the mid-field as well, so it will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out on Sunday afternoon, before an expected big crowd.
