Busselton Continue Winning Ways In Netball

Busselton recorded a solid 54-49 win over Harvey Brunswick Leschenault, with Lisa Millman and Devin Cunningham on fire.

The Magpies started promisingly, with Cunningham in excellent form, which ensured they led 13-8 at quarter time.

In the second term, HBL outscored the visitors and pulled to within three goals at the long break.

Busselton moved the ball well through the centre court with short sharp passes guided by Taneika Handley.  Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on the other hand, preferred long passes into the circle.

These long passes were strongly and physically contested by Busselton, with Katie Martin and Kellie Offer needing strong hands to successfully convert these passes into goals.

However the Magpies made the game their own in the third term, with Chloe Willsher and Handley continuing to present consistently and strongly on the circle for their attack.

In the final quarter, tall timber duo Tinker and Martin played a holding game, which allowed the Lions to outscore their rivals 16-12, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

The Blackwood Ravens continued their impressive first season in the top flight, after taking care of South Bunbury 50-45.

Trailing by two goals at quarter time, the Ravens introduced Elycce Webb to the court in the second quarter which seemed to steady them, as she was a vital link into their goal third. This ensured that the Ravens drew level by the half time break.

In the end, the shooting from Raven duo Abbey Hall and Courtney Webb (both more than 90 percent) proved too much for the Tigers to handle.

In the Raven’s second game for the weekend, they took on Carey Park and walked away with a 50-37 win.

Some great shooting early from Renee Cashell and defensive play by Cat Grochowski and Tia Wallace ensured the Panthers remained in the contest up until half time.

However Hall once again bobbed up, to put the game out of reach for her side.

In the final game for the weekend, the Eaton Boomers toppled Bunbury 46-30, which was their third win against the Bulldogs this season.
