Busselton Defeat AMR Again

It may of been a shock in round one when Busselton defeated the reigning premiers Augusta Margaret River at Gloucester Park, but Saturday nights win at Sir Stewart Bovell Park was also a shock, based on last weekends results.

Six days ago the Hawks demolished top ranked Bunbury, while Busselton were patchy against Harvey Bulls, but tonight the Magpies dominated for large periods of the match, winning by 34 points.

The Hawks held a slender lead at quarter time before the home team took control in the second quarter kicking four goals, while keeping the Hawks goal-less.

Two quick goals in the third quarter had Augusta Margaret River right back in the match, and they started to look dangerous, but a late goal to Busselton had the home team up by ten points at the final change.

The final term would be all Busselton, keeping the visitors scoreless, in a complete form reversal from the previous week.  Busselton’s Jake Dugan, Mitch Tenardi and Damian Lee obtained plenty of possessions with Mitch Howlett kicking four goals.  Dugan was awarded the Talk to a Mate game ball after consultation with both coaches.  The Hawks score of 4.6.30 was exactly the same score they kicked in the opening round against Busselton.

Busselton will play South Bunbury in a block-buster fixture next Saturday, while the Hawks will need to regroup as they play Carey Park at Kelly Park on Sunday.
