Busselton Into Women’s Grand Final

The defending Women’s Premiers are the first team into the 2023 Optus Women’s Grand Final, after Busselton defeated Bunbury in the Second Semi Final on Sunday at VC Mitchell Park.

It may have been low scoring but it was a tough, physical encounter, with Busselton dominating the first quarter with Havana Milner kicking a long range goal to open the scoring.

An early goal to Sabella Banks gave Busselton a handy lead in the second quarter, after which time, Bunbury dominated the remainder of the match, but weren’t able to kick a goal.  Busselton’s defence was superb, with the ball spending a great period of the match inside their own defensive half, but time and time again they repelled the Bunbury attacks.

Bunbury attacked relentlessly with Beth Beckett, Maddy Obal and Dianna Evans amongst the best for Busselton, while Kloe Bassett played well for Bunbury along with Amber Boyd who stopped several forward attacks.

Busselton will now have the week off, and will be able to watch the Preliminary Final on Sunday, when Bunbury play Harvey Bulls again, having played each other in the Qualifying Final two weeks ago.
