Busselton Set Up Grand Final Rematch

Busselton will play Bunbury in a Grand Final rematch after they defeated Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Sunday afternoon at Brunswick Oval in the first semi final.

On a perfect day for Football, the match was very low scoring, but like the week previous, the Lions started quickly kicking a goal within the opening minute via Jarrod Humphries (his 200th is the SWFL), with the Lions holding sway in the opening quarter.  The seven point margin diminished to three at the main break as a result of dour second quarter.

The Lions extended the margin to two goals, but inaccuracy was starting to become costly, and when Busselton kicked two goals in two minutes, Busselton found themselves in front right on three quarter time and with the momentum going into the last quarter.

That momentum was unstoppable, with the Magpies kicking the next five goals which put the game out of reach, and despite two late goals to the Lions, it would be the Magpies victorious and through to the Preliminary Final.

Aidan Fraser was again the dominant small forward on the ground, kicking four goals, while Taine Williams kicked three for the Lions.  Mitch Tenardi had plenty of the ball, setting up much of the play with Busselton winning by 17 points.
