Busselton Through To Women’s Grand Final

Busselton are the first team through to the Optus Women’s Grand Final with a hard fought seven point win over Bunbury at Hands Oval on Saturday afternoon.

In a low scoring affair, neither team managed a goal in the first quarter, but it would be the second quarter which set up the Magpies win.  Demi Liddle and Ellie Merrett both scored goals in quick succession, to have the Magpies up by 13 points at the main break.

Daisy Rigby kicked a goal in the third quarter to claw the margin back to nine points, and Bunbury did all of the attacking in the final quarter but were not able to take full toll on the scoreboard and the Magpies prevailed to make their second ever Grand Final.

Bunbury will need to regroup to take on Donnybrook next Sunday, who proved they can score heavily, although accuracy yesterday was an issue they will need to sort out.
