Busselton will be looking to remain undefeated when they host Donnybrook on Saturday afternoon, in round eight of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
The match to be played at Sir Stewart Bovell Park will see Busselton take on Donnybrook who in round seven had a 210 point win over Eaton, and if the Magpies are to beat Donnybrook, they will have defeated every team in the top five, putting Busselton into a great position going into the second half of the season. Donnybrook meanwhile, will be looking to become the first side to defeat Busselton, and solidify their spot in the top five, otherwise they will come into the clutches of Carey Park, who play Eaton also on Saturday.
Busselton held on last Sunday against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault to win by three points, with neither side scoring in the final eleven minutes, however the Magpies found a way to hold on in a desperate finish. The margin is the closest any team has got to beating Busselton this season, with Bunbury losing by nine points and South Bunbury by twelve points earlier this year.
Donnybrook will need to negate the influence of Mitch Tenardi in the centre and then the forward power of Ryan Ekert and Liam Creighton if they are to take the points on Saturday, and also somehow navigate a way around Tony Notte who reads the play as well as anyone in the SWFL. Kristian Cary has been a thorn in numerous teams side this season and will be a focal point for the Dons, while Cody Leggett and Mitch Kings will also need close checking by the Magpies, with both player in excellent form.
The Dons will be bouyed by last weeks result, however they will be under no illusions that this Saturday’s match will be a much tougher assignment. The Dons have won three of their last four matches, but their loss to Bunbury was to the only side currently in the top five.
The Magpies won the last contest between the two sides and have won seven of the last ten contests.
The League match commences at 2.30pm
