Can Eagles Win For Adam Bignells 300th Game

The Collie Eagles have plenty of incentive to defeat Dunsborough on Saturday afternoon, as Adam Bignell prepares to play his 300th game for the club, in round fifteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.

Bignell will become just the tenth player in the South West Football League to reach the milestone, and the fourth player from Collie to do so, with Gary King (Mines Rovers) 337, Ron Annandale (Mines Rovers) 314 and Geoff Saunders (Mines Rovers) 306, all achieving the milestone, but Bignell is the first from the Eagles, having played his first League match in 2007.

The Eagles who are tenth on the ladder, a position they have finished in for the last three seasons, have an opportunity to jump to eighth on the ladder if they can overcome Dunsborough.  The Sharks lead the head to head battle 4-1, having won the last three encounters including the match earlier in the season, where they were successful by 24 points.

The Sharks will also need to stop the dominance of Luke English through the midfield, after he starred at the Country Championships, while Matt Burton kicked numerous goals in the successful Country Championship side, and will need to be watched carefully by the Sharks defenders.

With the match an opportunity for Collie to win at home to celebrate the historic achievement by Adam Bignell, a healthy crowd is expected to be on hand to witness the milestone.

The League match is scheduled to commence at 2.10pm.
