Can Magpies Continue Unbeaten Run?

Busselton will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season, when the face South Bunbury at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday evening, in round seven of the SWFL season.

The Magpies have won six games from six matches, with wins over Augusta Margaret River (13 points), Eaton (145 points), Dunsborough (27 points), Donnybrook (26 points), Bunbury (11 points) and most recently Harvey Bulls by 72 points.  Busselton have swept all before them so far this season, and what promised to be a good contest last Saturday night didn’t eventuate, with the Magpies keeping the Bulls scoreless for more than a half.

When challenged this season, Busselton have responded every time, with Dunsborough getting within 14 points only to have the black and whites respond with goals to snuff out the contest, while against Bunbury, they lost a commanding lead but found a way to get it back again.

Meanwhile, the Tigers defeated Collie Eagles by 38 points, before losing to the Hawks in round two by nine points in a tough contest.  Since that point, the Tigers have found the form which took them to the Grand Final last season, with a win over Eaton by 27 points, Dunsborough by 39 points and their best performance of the season over Carey Park by 40 points.

Both teams have plenty of firepower, with Beau Chinnery and Liam Creighton at one end for the home team, while Leigh Kohlmann will need to be closely guarded at the other, with the Tiger forward kicking 15 goals in his last two games.

The Magpies and Tigers both have match winners across all lines, making for a great contest commencing at 4.40pm.

Busselton can remain two games clear of the opposition with a victory or come back to the back should they lose, as they are yet to have the bye. A loss to South Bunbury could be harmful, having already had the bye they could drop as far as fifth if on the wrong side of the ledger, or as high as second should they end Busselton’s run.
