Carey Park Take Down Magpies At Kelly Park

Busselton were the fancied team going into the round five fixture of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL match at Kelly Park, but it would be the home team who would take the four points after a close contest on Saturday evening.

In a low scoring affair, Carey Park would lead by six points at the quarter time break, and would take control early in the second, opening the margin to nineteen points at the ten minute mark, before a stalemate developed.  Carey Park had numerous opportunities to put the game out of reach of the Magpies but could not land the killer blow, with Busselton kicking two late goals to narrow the margin.

Busselton got within two points midway through the third, and looked like they would over-run the Panthers but a late snap goal by Hayden Yarran from within the goal square kept the black and whites nine points down with a quarter to play.

In a tense final quarter, both teams were unable to convert opportunities until Yarran kicked his third and finally put the game out of reach, with the final margin 14 points.
