Crichton Wins Hayward Medal Cliff Hanger

In one of the closest Hayward Medal counts in history, Jesse Crichton from the Harvey Brunswick Football Club has tonight won the Hayward Medal, with the last vote of the night, as the Light House Beach Resort in Bunbury,

Tension in the room was palpable, with four other players tied on 19 votes, with Crichton also on 19 until the final game of the home and away season.

Crichton becomes the first Harvey Brunswick Leschenault player to win the medal since John Klumpp in 2007.

Crichton’s total of 22 votes, is the third lowest winning total since 1996.

Jesse Gribble (BY), last years winner Mitch Lynn (AMR), Rory O’Brien (CP) and Jace Cormack (DBK) all polled 19 votes.

The vote was close all the way through the night with several players holding the lead across the eighteen rounds.
