With the home and away season into the final stretch, Sunday’s clash at Boyanup Oval between Donnybrook and Augusta Margaret River is a crucial clash, with ramifications for both teams should they lose the round fourteen Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL premiership match.
Donnybrook are fresh off the bye in the last round, while Augusta Margaret River will be looking to redeem themselves after a big loss at Gloucester Park, at the hands of ladder leaders South Bunbury.
Donnybrook sit in six place of the League Ladder with six wins, while Augusta Margaret River are fifth with seven wins, however, the Hawks have played one more match than the Dons. Should the Hawks lose they will drop out of the five, and maybe as low as seventh if Busselton defeat Carey Park. A Donnybrook loss and a win to fourth placed Carey Park, would see the Dons two games behind fifth place all of a sudden and making playing finals much more difficult.
The match takes on even more significance, as both teams play Dunsborough, Collie Eagles and Harvey Bulls in their next three encounters, games they would be fancied to win. The Hawks finish with games against Busselton and Bunbury, while the Dons last three games are against Busselton, Bunbury and Carey Park, and they would need to win at least one of those and hope the Hawks lose to Busselton and Bunbury to get back into the five, should they lose to the Hawks on Sunday.
Donnybrook will also need to fill the void left by Cooper Clarke-Dehring and Ben Howlett who are aware representing Western Australia in South Australia, just to make the Dons task even harder.
With wet weather forecast, it could be a low scoring contest with plenty to play for.
