Crucial Match Between Carey Park And Dunsborough

Carey Park return to Kelly Park on Sunday to take on Dunsborough in the final game of round seven of the SWFL, courtesy of Dale Alcock Homes, in what is a big match for both teams.

Dunsborough may only be playing their sixth game, but they have already shown more than enough to suggest they will be highly competitive in season 2023, having lost to Busselton by just 27 points and South Bunbury by 39 points in recent weeks, while winning convincingly against Collie, before last Sunday’s thrilling draw against Bunbury.

The Panthers will be hoping to bounce back from their heart-breaking loss to Donnybrook after leading for most of the match, only to have the Dons kick five of the last six goals to win by three points.

Carey Park sit fifth on the ladder, one of four teams who have won four games so far this season, but a loss may see them drop out of the five depending on if Harvey Bulls defeat Donnybrook or at worst be a game behind the fourth placed team.  Dunsborough meanwhile, will be looking for their first win on the road and welcome back Pat McGinnity for the clash, who has been one of the Sharks best players.  In all, Dunsborough were without five players who had played in their first four games last week and they all return for Sunday’s clash.

“Anthony Marinovich and John Ward were really good for us last week, so we have some good depth”, said coach Daniel Wiseman.

The Panthers may have as many as four changes from the team that lost to Donnybrook last Sunday, in what is a match both teams will be desperately looking to win.

Chris White and Nic Reid have been in great form for the Sharks kicking 25 goals between them, with Reid having 11 shots at goal against Bunbury.   The Panthers forward line doesn’t rely on any key forward, with youngster, Jack DiLallo having kicked nine goals.

With both teams having a high proportion of young players, the match promises to have plenty of run.
