Donnybrook And Bunbury Looking To Stay Alive

The Elimination Final will be played on Sunday at VC Mitchell Park, with both Donnybrook and Bunbury looking to stay in the 2023, Dale Alcock Homes South West Finals series.

For the winner it is a first semi final against either Carey Park or South Bunbury, while for the loser it is the commencement of the off-season and the end of 2023.

Both teams won thrillers in round twenty two, Donnybrook by one point and Bunbury by three points, with the Dons as recently as three weeks ago having defeated Bunbury by 35 points in the Peter Betti Cup, and they won the round eight fixture as well by 38 points.

Finals though are a different beast, and both teams have highly experienced players who have played in finals before, led by two of the most senior coaches in the competition, Shane Bolton and Jamie Nani.

Both teams have strong midfields, and both teams have strong forwards, capable of kicking match winning scores of their own boots.  Jeff Smith, Zac Trigwell and Sam Perkusich have kicked 97 goals between them this season, while the twin towers of Joel Houghton and Matt Martin have managed 112 for Bunbury.

Ben Howlett and Perkusich have had outstanding seasons and will be two players Bunbury will need to keep a close eye on, while Jethro Barraclough and Dylan Heasman have been in good form in recent times, with Barraclough particularly playing a great game last weekend for Bunbury.

The match will be played in fine conditions and a big crowd is expected to VC Mitchell Park for the contest, which commences at 3.00pm.
