Donnybrook Deluge Drowns Dons

Nearly an inch of rain fell at Donnybrook on Saturday afternoon, nearly all of it during the SWFL League match between Donnybrook and Augusta Margaret River, at VC Mitchell Park.

The heavens opened, with the thunder drowning out the opening siren as the football immediately became a cake of soap.

Eight minutes went by before the opening score, with the Hawks the only team to record a major in the opening stanza.

The Hawks certainly mastered the conditions way better in the second quarter, putting the game beyond doubt in the driving rain by half time, leading by six straight goals, as the home team remained goal-less.

The Dons did match Augusta Margaret River in the second half, but the damage was well and truly done by this stage, with the Hawks victorious by 40 points.
