Donnybrook Storm Home In Thrilling Final Term

Donnybrook have staged a stunning last quarter comeback, to defeat Carey Park by three points at VC Mitchell Park on Sunday afternoon, before a vocal crowd in round six of the SWFL.

For the majority of the match, it was Carey Park making all of the running, first to the ball, more precise with the their kicking and applying plenty of tackling pressure.   This assisted with them leading all the first three changes, by 11 points, 19 points and 15 points at three quarter time.

The final term was polar opposite with the home team more than doubling their score, which in-turn put the Panthers under plenty of pressure. In a ten minute period, Ben Frazer kicked two goals, and when Sam Bevan took a strong mark and subsequently goaled, the Dons found themselves in front.

In a dramatic final twist the Panthers had a chance to win the match after the final siren, but from inside the centre square, which was too far out to realistically win the match.  The Dons came from fifteen points down to take the win, to the delight of the home fans.

Ben Howlett again played a great game for the Dons, while Chris Atthowe was a big part of the Donnybrook resurgence in the final quarter.  Reece Payne and Harley Sparks were amongst the best for the Panthers.

Donnybrook will host Harvey Bulls next Sunday in round seven, while Carey Park will host Dunsborough, also on Sunday.
