Donnybrook Win Peter Butcher Cup

Donnybrook were victorious over Eaton on Saturday afternoon at Glen Huon Reserve, and in the process retained the Peter Butcher Cup, having now won the last three contests between the two teams.

The round eleven clash was all one way traffic in the opening term, with the Dons kicking seven goals, which ultimately was the difference.

Matt Martin, Cooper Clarke-Dehring and Brandon Jetta combined to kick ten goals between them, putting the Eaton defence under continual pressure.  The Dons who have been injury ravaged did get a few key players back for the match including Martin, Chris Atthowe and Ben Howlett, with Howlett particularly playing a good game.

Eaton were kept to one goal in the first half, but made a spirited comeback in the third term, getting within four goals of the Dons, but Donnybrook would finish with five of the last six goals.

Jackson Broadbent provided the home fans with a rare highlight, kicking a torpedo goal from 55 metres, while Greg Humphries was outstanding and was clearly the Boomers best player.

Clayton Giblett continued his good form for the Dons, as did Sam Perkusich, both amongst the visitors best players.

Eaton despite losing have moved off the bottom of the ladder, after Collie were beaten by Bunbury, by a large margin.  Meanwhile Donnybrook have moved into fourth place at the expense of Augusta Margaret River who lost to the Lions also on Saturday.
