Dons End Tigers Season In Reserves Elimination Final

Donnybrook have won the Solahart South West Reserves Elimination Final in a low scoring affair at Hands Memorial Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The match started with the Tigers kicking two quick goals to Ryan Smith and Corey Rota, and when Smith kicked his second goal at the eight minute mark, the Tigers were off to a perfect start.

Chris Atthowe brought the Dons crowd to life, kicking the Dons opening goal from outside 50m to reduce the margin to twelve points.

With the margin at eleven points at quarter time, the second quarter was an arm-wrestle, with Tanner Allan kicking the only goal of the quarter, with the Tigers leading by three points at half time.

The arm-wrestle continued in the third with neither team giving an inch, with Cody Miller finally getting the quarters first goal, which put the Dons in front.  Hamish Hutton got a slick handball to Mitch Kendle late in the term to give the Dons their biggest lead of the match, being ten points which they would hold until three quarter time.

Leslie Wallam kicked the Tigers first goal since the eight minute mark of the first quarter, reducing the margin back to four points at the beginning of the final term.  Tanner Allan kicked a long range goal soon after, giving the Dons an eleven point advantage with fourteen minutes to play.

The Tigers gave it everything in the final ten minutes but were not able to get the goal to bring the margin under six points, with the Dons winning by twelve points.

Donnybrook will now play Carey Park in the First Semi Final, with the Tigers officially finishing the season in fifth place.
