A very inaccurate Donnybrook have been defeated by Bunbury on Sunday afternoon at VC Mitchell Park, in round fourteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
The Bulldogs started the contest brilliantly, kicking four opening quarter goals, while keeping the home side scoreless.
After quarter time Bunbury outscored Donnybrook by just one point for the remainder of the match, but it would be Donnybrooks inaccuracy that really cost them. In the second term the Dons converted just one of seven opportunities, the third term, just one of five shots at goal found the major opening and in the final quarter, the Dons converted just two of nine scoring shots, while keeping Bunbury to just two behinds in the final term.
The inaccuracy was contageous with numerous players unable to convert, which hurt the side which had arrested the Bulldogs dominance from the first half, and had plenty of general play in the second half, but ultimate the inaccuracy saw Bunbury victorious by 28 points.
Bunbury extend their winning streak to eleven games, and they will host Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Saturday in a match that promises plenty, with the Lions on a six game winning streak of their own. The loss has Donnybrook holding fifth place, but Carey Park and Augusta Margaret River sit just outside the five with all three teams on six wins. The dons will head to Harvey on Sunday to take on the Bulls.
