Dunsborough Win Seasons First Thriller

Depending on club allegiance, it was either a great come from behind victory by the Sharks, or the one that got away if you were a Boomers fan, after Dunsborough club on to win by three points in the seasons first thriller at Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

After an even opening term, which saw the home side lead by four points, the Boomers dominated the second quarter, with Eli Hill, Jackson Hill and Paul Rinder attracting plenty of the ball, to lead by twenty points at half time.

Chris White (Dunsborough) and Brendan Craig (Eaton) contesting the ball.

The third term would belong to the Sharks keeping the Boomers scoreless, turning the half time deficit into an eight point lead at the final break.  Jake Green was outstanding kicking some clutch goals for the Sharks, as the 18 year old kicked five of the Sharks nine goals.

The final term would see the Boomers kick the opening goal to make the margin two points, before the Sharks replied to extend the margin.  The Boomers kicked two goals in two minutes to take the lead, as the crowd was at fever pitch in the dying minutes of the match.  But Green would kick his fifth and sink the hearts of the Boomers faithful, as the Sharks hit the front again.

The final minute of the match had the ball at Eaton’s end of the ground, with a marking contest in the final seconds hitting the ground just before the siren sounded giving Dunsborough the win by three points, and their third consecutive win over the Boomers.

Green was outstanding for the Sharks, not only with his five goals from the wing, but his work around the ground as well was excellent, while for Eaton, Eli Hill and ruckman, Paul Rinder who hardly ever plays a bad game were amongst the Boomers best.

Eaton will travel to Gloucester Park to take on the Hawks who are yet to win a game this season, while Dunsborough will host the rampaging Harvey Brunswick Leschenault.  Both games scheduled for Sunday.
