Eaton Boomers simply need to topple the South Bunbury Tigers in their round seventeen match at Hands Oval on Sunday, or face an unlikely chance of making the finals.
Eaton who are seventh on the ladder, are just one game outside the five but they still need to play Bunbury and Busselton in the run to finals. A loss to the Tigers and a win to Donnybrook on Sunday will put them two games adrift of fifth place and almost certainly out of the race. If the Bulls were to be successful on Sunday, the race for fifth place will linger right through until round twenty two.
The Boomers though, can do themselves a favour by causing an upset against South Bunbury, who only beat them by a goal earlier this season.
South Bunbury started well last week against Harvey Bulls before being held scoreless in the second quarter, which certainly will give Eaton hope, but they will also be aware that the Tigers kicked five goals in quick succession in the third quarter to get themselves back in the match.
Captain Kevin Chittiy will be hoping his team can put a four quarter performance together and record a healthy win, as top spot is also not secured, with reigning Premiers only 4.65% behind, with the Hawks playing Collie on Sunday. With a game in hand, the Tigers clash later in the season in round twenty against the Hawks, may be the decider as to who gets a week off after the qualifying rounds.
The midfield battle will be a good one, with Greg Humphries and Mitch Kings continuing to play good games, week in week out, and they will be key to the Boomers chances on Saturday.
