Final Five Almost Set But What Order Will They Finish?

The season is almost over for five clubs while for those remaining, the final order is far from finalised, in the SWFL League Competition.

South Bunbury will finish Collie’s season on Saturday if they defeat Eaton Boomers.  This will put them temporarily into fourth place until Busselton play Carey Park on Sunday.  A Busselton victory will have the placings remain the same going into the final round.

For Busselton to move to third they need Harvey Brunswick Leschenault to lose both to Bunbury and Donnybrook, to give themselves a shot at a Qualifying Final.  Realistically, based on ladder positions, the Magpies will finish fourth and host South Bunbury in an Elimination Final.

The top half of the five is still very much up in the air, largely hinging on this Sunday’s match of the round between Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and Bunbury.  A win to the Lions and Bunbury could finish anywhere from first to third, while a loss will see the Lions finish third and either play Bunbury or Augusta Margaret River in the first week of finals.  That puzzle will be completed in Round eighteen when Bunbury play South Bunbury at PC Payne Park.

The sleeping giant, Augusta Margaret River has matches against Harvey Bulls and Carey Park and based on ladder positions, if they win both, they will finish on top of the ladder if Bunbury lose either to Harvey Brunswick Leschenault or South Bunbury.  The Hawks can still finish on top of the ladder if both Bunbury and the Hawks win both of their final two games, but will have to make up 10% for the ladder positions to change, making every score both for and against vital in the final two matches.

It is more than a decade since the Hawks have finished the home and away season on top of the ladder, will this be it?
