The Apprentice & Traineeship Colts Grand Final will be a replay of last years Grand Final, when Bunbury will play Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at Hands Memorial Oval on Sunday.
That is really where the similarities between the two team lie, with the Lions coming from an Elimination Final in 2023, and Bunbury wen through the season undefeated.
This season, the Lions were on top of the ladder for a great portion of the season while Bunbury were third, with Bunbury defeated both the Lions and Carey Park to make the grand final first.
Bunbury won the most recent contest by 14 points in the Qualifying Final, despite having less scoring shots with accuracy getting the Bulldogs home.
In round sixteen, the match was even closer with the Bulldogs getting home by just six points, while in round five it was the Lions by 63 points.
Both sides have players in good form, with Rohan Ashworth and Oliver Reilly, along with Cooper Zanich and Mason Hawkes all playing good football.
The Lions likewise have players who are playing well, with Lain Haunold, Tom Ward and Cruz McCagh all playing well. The Lions do have a potent forward line with Rohan Grout and Lattrell May, but the Bulldogs were able to nullify that in the Qualifying Final. Zeke Walker of Bunbury finished the home and away season with 35 goals to be Bunbury’s most prolific goal scorer, but he too was well held in the same match, highlighting both defences were on top in the low scoring encounter.
With no tomorrow and a Grand Final Premiership at stake, along with fine weather, the match promises to be a beauty to kick off a big day of Grand Finals at Hands Memorial Oval.
The match commences at 9.00am
