Augusta Margaret River will host South Bunbury on Saturday afternoon in the Second Semi Final, with the winner being the first team into the 2022, Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Grand Final.
Augusta Margaret River made their way into the Second Semi Final after a 49 point win over Bunbury in round 22, which saw their percentage pass South Bunbury’s with the second last score of the afternoon.
South Bunbury advanced to the Second Semi Final after a barn-storming finish which saw the Tigers kick six last quarter goals to overcome Bunbury in the Qualifying Final.
Both teams have played each other twice this season and both won their match at home, and neither game was high scoring. Both teams match up well on each other right across the ground making this an intriguing contest.
Tim Noakes kicked nine goals against Bunbury and will be a focal point for the Hawks, while Seve Grantis will play his 100th game and Mitch Gerrans becomes the third player this season to notch up his 250th game, giving the Hawks additional inspiration to advance to the Grand Final. Meanwhile, the Tigers will be buoyed by their finish to last weeks game, which was hard fought and the red and whites showed plenty of resilience to come from four goals down.
The two teams have only played in a second semi final against each other once and that was in 2011, which the Hawks won. The two teams then played a fortnight later in the Grand Final with the Hawks winning by 26 points.
