Great Southern have defeated the Alcoa South West Women’s side in the final qualifying game of the Nutrien Ag Country Championships, at Hands Memorial Oval on Friday morning.
The South West side had already qualified for the final due to other results, but were no match for the Great Southern, particularly in the first half.
The Great Southern dominated the opening half, and were unlucky not to be further in front at half time, leading by twelve points, keeping the SWFL goal-less.
Kathryn Slattery kicked the opening goal of the second half for Great Southern, which saw the home side trail by seventeen points. Daisy Rigby finally converted giving the SWFL some hope, but time was starting to run out. In a desperate last few minutes the Great Southern were able to repell the attacks from the South West, although the home side was able to kick a goal after the final siren to go down by four points.
The South West will play Great Northern in the Division One Grand Final.
