Hawks Colts Win In Extra Time

Augusta Margaret River Colts team have won arguably the game of the season, when the defeated Bunbury in the First Semi Final at Gloucester Park after two periods of extra time.

Kicking the last three goals in regular time, including the last kick of the match to level the scores at 8.6-54 apiece, scores were still level after the first period of extra time, before the Hawks kicked the winning goal in the last 40 seconds of the second period of extra time.

Bunbury controlled the match for the first three quarters and seemingly had the game in their keeping, but a ten minute surge in the final term by the Hawks saw scores level, with the big crowd at fever pitch.

It would be Banjo Watkins who would kick the only goal in Extra Time, the winning goal in a thrilling encounter.

Jonah Brooks kicked four goals for the Hawks and was best on ground, while Mackenna Taylor kicked three goals for the Bulldogs, with Trae Field again playing a great game.

The Hawks will now move to the Preliminary Final and will play either Busselton or Carey Park who play tomorrow at Brunswick Oval.
