Hawks Down Bulls In The Wet

Augusta Margaret River won the opening game of round three of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season, with a hard fought win over the Harvey Bulls at Gloucester Park on Saturday afternoon.

The flood lights were turned on at 1.00pm which was an ominous sign as the gloomy skies rolled in, along with the rain, in what promised to be a top contest, and it duly delivered in the miserable conditions.

The weather certainly didn’t help the forwards in what turned out to be a low scoring affair, with the home team getting the best start, leading by 13 points at the first change.

The Bulls fought back in the second quarter, keeping the home team scoreless, with the visitors taking the lead midway through the second term, with all of the scoring at the town end of the ground.

Both teams managed a goal in the third quarter, with just six goals for the match, before the teams kicked seven goals combined in the final term in a tough game of football.

Linc Adams played a great game in defence, stopping many Bulls attacks, with some brilliant one one one battles in the first half.  Andrew Haydon again played well for the Bulls, who lost their first game of the season, as the Hawks prevailed by 8 points.

There were plenty of players around the ball all day at Gloucester Park, as Sam Lewis tries to break the tackle of Zac Dronow.
