Augusta Margaret River have held off Dunsborough in a thriller at Dunsborough Playing Fields on Saturday afternoon, in the opening game of round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.

The Hawks would prevail by six points, but led by sixteen points at the fifteen minute mark of the final term, with goals to Caydhen Black and Dash Bridgham setting up a grandstand finish.
Augusta Margaret River had twenty three scoring shots to Dunsborough’s twelve, but it was as much the Hawks inaccuracy as the Sharks accuracy that kept the home side in the match.
After an even opening quarter where scores were level, Dunsborough didn’t score in the second stanza as the Hawks took a ten point lead into the main break. Both sides kicked three goals each in the third term with Black getting the Sharks within four points at the eleven minute mark but a late steadying goal by Byron George had the visitors nine points in front at three quarter time.
The Hawks victory was their fifth of the season, with a home match next Saturday against Eaton, while Dunsborough are one of three teams to have the bye.
