Hawks In A Close Call With The Bulls

It took a full four quarters for the Hawks to defeat the Harvey Bulls at Gloucester Park on Sunday, in brutally cold conditions by 10 points in the afternoon fixture on round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes South West Premiership season.

The match was close all day, with both teams locked together at the first break before the Hawks gained the upper hand in the second.

Harvey were not done with, kicking five goals in quick succession in the third, led with Brad Holmes who ended up with five goals of his own.  The Hawks fought back late in the term to arrest the lead by five points going into the final quarter.

In a tense final term, both teams managed one goal each, with the home side getting up by just ten points.

Mitch Payne and Simon Moore continued their good form for the Hawks, while captain Eli Smith and Tyson Powell had plenty of possessions for the visitors.   The Hawks have the club bye this weekend, while the Bulls will face Carey Park at the Bull Pen on Saturday evening in a must win match for both teams.
