Hawks Kick Massive Score Against Collie

Augusta Margaret River have recorded the highest score of the season to date, when they thrashed the Collie Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Gloucester Park, in round eighteen of the SWFL premiership season.

The Hawks would win by 99 points, on their way to kicking the highest score of the season and the clubs highest score since 26 May 2013, when the League side kicked 24.15 (159) versus Harvey Bulls.

Early in the match there was no sign of what was to come with Collie leading at the sixteen minute mark of the opening term 3.3 (21) to 3.3 (20).  Late goals to the Hawks gave them the upper hand, leading by 17 points.

Simon Moore racked up a stack of possessions.

At half time, the margin was still on 25 points, but in the second half the flood gates opened and the Hawks kicked seventeen goals to five.  To make matters worse for Collie, in the final term the Hawks kicked 10.1 (61), kicking goals from all angles and no matter how hard the Collie defence tried, it made no difference, with eleven players kicking goals for the Hawks.

Oscar Armstrong, Jack McMahon and Kael Coleman kicked thirteen goals between them, while Jayce Fontana was a shining light at the other end kicking four goals for the Eagles.

Simon Moore and Zac Dronow had plenty of possessions, while Linc Adams again led the backline in another excellent display.

On today’s performance, despite the Hawks being out of finals contention there is no doubt they will have a big say on how the final five finishes, with matches against Bunbury in round twenty and Donnybrook in round twenty two.  In between they play Dunsborough, while having the bye next week.

Collie have dropped back to the bottom of the ladder and will play Eaton at home on Sunday, where the loser is almost certain to secure the wooden spoon.
